What our customers say about Apricot Insurance

What does landlord insurance NI cover?

When you buy a standard home insurance policy, it will usually cover both the building and the contents. It’s the same with NI landlord insurance. Please note that a standard home insurance policy is usually not sufficient if you are letting out the property. You’ll generally need insurance for landlords designed for buy to let owners.

Your rental property or properties are a massive investment, and unexpected disasters do happen, unfortunately. If there was a fire or a flood, for example, wouldn’t you need your investment protected? NI landlords insurance includes insurance for the building itself, so you can rest easy. Contents are typically covered too. It’s important to note, though, that Northern Ireland landlord insurance will generally cover the items you provide at the property, not your tenants’ contents. Rest assured though, things like your carpets, furniture and white goods are usually covered by the landlords contents insurance.

Additional cover for NI landlord insurance

We provide policies that can be tailored to your individual needs and circumstances, and there are a number of covers that can be included – more than there is space to describe here.

Landlord liability insurance: What if your tenant made a claim against you because he or she had got injured on your property. Unfortunately, despite due care and attention, it’s possible that it could be deemed your fault. Such claims are extraordinarily expensive, and pose a serious risk to your livelihood. Public liability with landlord insurance pays out in such circumstances.

Accidental damage cover can be added to your landlords insurance Northern Ireland policy. This protects you against damage caused by your tenants by accident. If you’re worried about tenants damaging your property on purpose, you can add malicious damage cover which pays out accordingly. Either or both of these may be needed to give you peace of mind.

Cheap NI Landlords Insurance

Northern Irelands landlords insurance can vary dramatically in price. In fact, in some cases it can be tricky to get this cover at a truly competitive price. Insurers have very different rates from one another, and for different circumstances, so it’s best to compare.

There are a lot of variables that affect how much you’ll need to pay. Northern Ireland landlord quotes may differ significantly depending on the exact location, the extras you want to include, and even your date of birth. So, Belfast landlord insurance may differ in price from other locations. Obviously if you’re insuring multiple properties it’s also going to be much more expensive than insuring a single house.

By the way, if you’re insuring a home of multiple occupancy, or are looking for commercial landlord insurance, these situations can be covered too.

It’s important to balance the quality of cover with price, as it’s possible the very cheapest policy may not suit your needs. NI policies, just like landlord insurance UK, have varying levels of cover, and may have very different excesses. That’s why it’s so beneficial to consult with a broker like Apricot which has strong relationships with a lot of different insurers. That way you’ve got a better chance of securing a great deal.
